Decision 1
Build the component-use matrix
Give each gift assortment a row and each packaging component a column: outer, insert, sleeve, card and label. Enter the number of each component used per finished gift. Keep the sealed food units in a separate buyer-supplied contents list so the packaging purchase does not accidentally include food.
Decision 2
Reconcile the purchase lines
Multiply the planned gift quantity by each component-use quantity and total components shared across assortments. List any separately agreed spares on their own line rather than assuming an allowance. Compare these totals with the purchase order and the supplier acknowledgement before release, checking that every assortment has its required packaging.
